Dream Beam

Monday, March 19th, 2012

My boyfriend plays this record to me nearly everyday. I love it and look at how fantastic the video is – I didn’t even expect it to have a proper music video. I’m not really into the whole ironic “I love acid/rave/keith haring and smileys on everything” phenomenon but those are some jazzy visuals and the styling is so bad it’s good…

I love this Kim Bowens fashion essay from Blitz magazine in 1986, found on theblitzkids.com
Read more about Kim Bowens here or see my most recent ISYSArchive.tv post on the Blitz Kids and a new crowdfunded book called We Can Be Heroes about the early 80s nightclub scene in London.

Joe Hart posted this in the World Unknown group yesterday, amazing dance moves throughout – especially the lady in the sexy legs contest at 5:05.

Stratus Dance Club was the premier alcohol-free young adult nightclub in Southern California from 1978 to 1987. Located in Casa de Oro – the foothills of Mt. Helix , Stratus catered to high-school and college students from San Diego County to as far north as Los Angeles.

Legendary Children – Hot Mix Vol. 4 by Prince Pac

It’s been an awesome first year at Legendary Children- in the first twelve months we’ve been fortunate enough to share the DJ booth with Neville Watson (Clone), Bez (Happy Mondays), Andy Blake (Dissident/Cave Paintings), Affie Yusef (House of 909) and Semtek (Lostbahnhof) to name just a few. Plus our blog has received love from the likes of Optimo (Espacio), Terry Farley (Junior Boy’s Own), Gavin Watson (Raving ‘89), Wayne Anthony (Class of 88) not to mention the mighty TRAX Records SO, in order to celebrate this colossal start and get the ball rolling for year two, we are taking command of a SECRET EAST LONDON VENUE for our 1st birthday Acid party.

Playing alongside Legendary Children residents Prince Pac, Elles McFierce’em and Best Edward will be Body Hammer/ World Unknown’s Joe Hart, whose incredible underground parties have set dance floors alight on both sides of the river. His natural flair for putting on authentic, back-to-basics house nights and sound-tracking them with intuitive, dynamite sets that span Acid, Italo and New Beat,  mean he knows a thing or two about keeping feet moving til dawn and is undoubtedly one to watch in 2011. We will also be featuring visuals by up-and-coming filmmaker Cassie Clarke (Mixed Up) and giving away limited edition Legendary Children zines and mixtapes at the party. This event is not to be missed, early arrival is essential as venue capacity is very limited. £5 entrance til late, venue details can be found by ringing 07513494531, by joining the mailing list info@legendarychildren.co.uk or  visit facebook.com/legendarychildren.

My boyfriend, who goes by the name Prince Pac (only when he’s playing records though) and our pal Dan Spinney have gone and done one of those podcast things in preparation for their take over of Room 3 at Fabric this Friday at Kill Em’ All. Check it out: Jam packed with “Big tunes”.

Cherry Moon

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

I was looking for New Beat videos on youtube and I stumbled across a fine selection of music videos recorded at the Cherry Moon club in Lokeren, Belgium. If you don’t like feeling uncomfortable look away now, I do not condone any of this.

BONUS: this one wasn’t filmed at Cherry Moon but is almost as questionable.

Drop The Bomb

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Drop the Bomb is a really cool club night for dancers (and non-dancers) pop down to the next one to see poppin’, lockin’, breakin’ and the rest. Pac has done a new mix for his new residency – recommended listening:
