Highgate Cemetery (West)

Egyptian Avenue

I went on a tour of Highgate Cemetery (West) on Sunday, you can only visit that side of the cemetery if you go on the tour. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in cemeteries architecture, victorian history, or to anyone who doesn’t. The best bit was the Egyptian Avenue and seeing the ornate coffins in the tombs opposite Julius Beer’s mausoleum.

I haven’t been to a wedding since I was seven, when I went to 2 in the same year. So I’ve only been to 2 weddings, but this year I have 3 to go to and I don’t know what to wear. I’m not a fan of dresses but I think I’d quite like to wear one, but dresses are boring, especially formal ones. My boyfriend suggested that I make one, and I realised I have a stockpile of African batik fabric hanging around that I could use. And that’s when I came across this…

Couldn’t resist buying this 5xLP compilation of Ghanaian Funk & Highlife in Phonica last night. I have only listened to two out of the five records but so far I like it. It comes with a brilliant booklet with retro Ghanaian artwork and photos. More info here:

Went through a box of 7″ records in my parents attic yesterday. It provided me with a nice portrait of the sort of stuff my parents listened to when they were my age.
