Egyptian Avenue

I went on a tour of Highgate Cemetery (West) on Sunday, you can only visit that side of the cemetery if you go on the tour. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in cemeteries architecture, victorian history, or to anyone who doesn’t. The best bit was the Egyptian Avenue and seeing the ornate coffins in the tombs opposite Julius Beer’s mausoleum.

Bad Meaning Good, 1987

Tim Westwood’s Hip Hop culture documentary from 1987. It features rare interviews with some UK rap artists who are pretty much forgotten now, such as MC Crazy Noddy (of Sindecut), Cookie Crew, London Posse, Wee Papa Girl Rappers and many more. There is also an appearance from a young Trevor Nelson and well known US rappers Run DMC.

The documentary mentions how she would produce “ectoplasm” during her seances, kind of like a white bedsheet which came out through a bodily orifice. Mental. Curiosity got the better of me and I ended up googling ectoplasm, these image are beyond weird.

I haven’t been to a wedding since I was seven, when I went to 2 in the same year. So I’ve only been to 2 weddings, but this year I have 3 to go to and I don’t know what to wear. I’m not a fan of dresses but I think I’d quite like to wear one, but dresses are boring, especially formal ones. My boyfriend suggested that I make one, and I realised I have a stockpile of African batik fabric hanging around that I could use. And that’s when I came across this…
