I’ve been making some saucy psychedelic visuals for a DJ friend’s upcoming event and in the process discovered all these wonderful animations on youtube by Len Lye, John Whitney and Norman McClaren. They are brilliant! We were sat about on Saturday morning after a night out watching them with a house music soundtrack – the effect is magic!

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

I have a massive obsession with the hyper-glossy, hyper-beautiful photographs of Guy Bourdin but I had no idea he had made films too.

Very happy today!

Joe Hart posted this in the World Unknown group yesterday, amazing dance moves throughout – especially the lady in the sexy legs contest at 5:05.

Stratus Dance Club was the premier alcohol-free young adult nightclub in Southern California from 1978 to 1987. Located in Casa de Oro – the foothills of Mt. Helix , Stratus catered to high-school and college students from San Diego County to as far north as Los Angeles.

Bad Meaning Good, 1987

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Tim Westwood’s Hip Hop culture documentary from 1987. It features rare interviews with some UK rap artists who are pretty much forgotten now, such as MC Crazy Noddy (of Sindecut), Cookie Crew, London Posse, Wee Papa Girl Rappers and many more. There is also an appearance from a young Trevor Nelson and well known US rappers Run DMC.

I was watching this 4OD documentary the other night about the Helen Duncan, who was the last person to be imprisoned under the Witchcraft Act of 1735 – in the 1940s! The documentary mentions how she would produce “ectoplasm” during her seances, kind of like a white bedsheet which came out through a bodily orifice. Mental. Curiosity got the better of me and I ended up googling ectoplasm, these image are beyond weird.

My obsession with this Japanese horror film, Hausu aka HOUSE, has been escalating for sometime. Everything in it is so wrong, it’s right; the music, the editing, the animation, the twisted and demented death scenes. I particularly like the white cat that reoccurs throughout the film like some bad omen.

How good is this t-shirt?

Since purchasing the 12″ of Batdance last week, I have developed a weird obsession with Prince’s contributions to The Batman (1989) soundtrack. Is it weird to dance to Batdance in your pajamas?

Andy Blake put me on to this Mark Moore remix, not sure if I like it more than the original:
